Aspen Technology formed from the Advanced System for Process Engineering (ASPEN) Project — joint research between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and U.S. Department of Energy.
The team explored technical innovations in response to the 1970's energy crisis, developing the chemical industry’s first computer-based modeling and simulation technology.
